I've been playing Bejeweled Blitz on Facebook and am baffled as to how you get the multipliers?

I always seem to get my best scores when I get the 1x, 2x, 3x, etc. (and when they come up early). But I don't know what I'm doing to make them come up.I've been playing Bejeweled Blitz on Facebook and am baffled as to how you get the multipliers?

You have to cause chain reaction and go really fast essentially.
