Are there any hints, tips and cheats for Bejeweled Blitz?

So you have 1 minute to get as many points at possible, and at the moment my mum is constantly beating me! I need to know if there any any tips or hints or maybe even cheats for me to beat her! If you know any please help! x

There's really no cheats for the game, but there are some tips to help you out.



1) Don't wait for the gems to fall before you make your next move. -- Unlike Bejeweled 2, you can keep making moves while gems are falling. This can help you get more points through the speed bonus.



2) As you keep making good moves (clearing gems), the game will become more responsive -- What I mean by "more responsive" is that the gems will fall faster, less lag between moves %26amp; the game generally gets faster to allow you to clear more gems.



HOWEVER, if you break your speed combo, the game will slow back down to normal speed.



3) Clearing Gems fast enough will eventually get you to "Blazing Speed" bonus, where the game is going extremely fast %26amp; every good move causes an explosion (similar to clearing a fire gem).



4) Clearing 12 gems on the board at one time will give you a multiplier gem. Clearing those are CRITICAL to getting a an excellent score However, please be aware that you normally have to wait 10 seconds before you get another one... so the absolute maximum multiplier you can get is 7x at the buzzer.



5) Using a Hypercube on itself will clear the ENTIRE PLAYFIELD -- This is a strange change to the game, but that's 16K at 1x (80K @ 5x)... so you can see how valuable that can be.



6) Try to clear gems in groups of 4 or more, when possible -- Try to get power gems %26amp; hypercubes to help you clear more of the playfield %26amp; earn more points. If you clear gems in an L or a T-pattern, you'll get a lightning gem (which clears all gems horizontally %26amp; vertically) instead of a fire gem.



7) Try to keep as many fire %26amp; lightning gems near the end of the game -- They're automatically detonated for the Last Hurrah, which can give you some last minute points as it'll keep going until there it cannot clear any more gems on the playfield. You can easily get 50K or more from this.



8) AVOID USING THE HINT BUTTON WHEN POSSIBLE!!! -- The more gems you can clear without asking for help, the better off you'll be. Once you start hitting the Hint button, you're disrupting your flow %26amp; you'll lose your speed bonus. If you can't see a move, go ahead %26amp; use it (as there's no points penalty), but you'll never get a great score if you depend on it.





Other than that... just PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!!! I know it can be disheartening when you're constantly beaten by others... but it's just a game %26amp; it should be fun. My personal leaderboard is uber-competitive (which a fair number of friends breaking the 250K mark), so pretty much get beaten on a weekly basis... but it makes reaching the top all that sweater... even if it's only for a few minutes.
